Niagara Falls has a low cost international airport that sits only 80 miles from the City of Toronto.
Greater Toronto is the home to 400,000+ residents of East Indian Origin. Residents of East Indian Origin comprise 4% of the population in the Province of Ontario.
Niagara-Falls/Buffalo, NY is a USA top 20 destination for international tourists. East Indians are the dominant international visitors The Birmingham (UK) region – West and East Midlands – has an East Indian population exceeding 350,000 residents.
Birmingham is serviced by only one mid-week flight to Toronto provided by Air Transat.
Birmingham, the 2nd largest city in England, has no direct flights to India.
The people and city government of Birmingham would like to become the new City of London International Airport. London is the home to 500,000 plus residents of East Indian heritage. A game plan no different than Niagara wanting to be an alternative to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
I don’t see the local, Western New York Authorities, looking at something different. I’ll toss the idea out anyway. Indian vacationers appear to love Niagara Falls. The NFTA is hoping for an international carrier to service Niagara Falls International Airport. Birmingham has developed a Fly India campaign to attract a carrier to service India from Birmingham.
Might it not be possible to work together on a potential Niagara Falls, Birmingham, India air route that opens a travel, tourism and business link between the USA/Canada Niagara Region, England’s Midlands, and Indians who are now traveling abroad in greater numbers?
Just thinking out side the box for other possibilities.
